Marlene Dietrich

Marlene Dietrich (27 December 1901 – 6 May 1992) was a German actress and singer. In 1929, Dietrich landed the breakthrough role of Lola-Lola, a cabaret singer in The Blue Angel (1930). The film was directed by Josef von Sternberg, who thereafter took credit for having “discovered” Dietrich. The film is also noteworthy for having introduced Dietrich’s signature song “Falling in Love Again”.

Irene Handl

Irene Handl (27 December 1901 – 29 November 1987) was an English actress. Handl had very minor roles in such landmark films as Night Train to MunichSpellbound and Brief Encounter. Her notable appearances included I’m All Right Jack as the wife of Peter Sellers’ union leader Fred Kite,Tony Hancock’s landlady in The Rebel and Sherlock Holmes’ housekeeper Mrs. Hudson in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.
